Happy Birthday Sweetie! For your birthday, I had the idea of writing you a love letter, telling you all the ways you've filled my life with love and happiness, how you made me a more complete and better person. I wanted you to know and understand the lasting impact you made on my life and the lives of so many others.
I soon realized this gift would be even better if I could get others to share how much you meant to them and the impact you made in their lives. You are an amazing person who has touched the lives of so many, making each of their lives better for having known you. |
Dalton ErrathI remember when mom was picking me up from school, we used to always go to Walgreens or Panera after school, and I always looked forward to it because it was the best part of my whole day. I got to spend it with my mom just laughing and talking about whatever.
I specifically remember one day when I was eating some nuts I got from Walgreens, and I lost them in the car, and mom said to me, "Dalton, where are your nuts?" We both could not stop laughing for about 20 minutes. Mom always knew how to make me laugh, and always knew that a moment like that was something to cherish, that we should just enjoy the moment. To this day I still try to make everyone laugh and enjoy the moments I have because of my mom. I will never forget those moments that we would spend after school just laughing and talking about cartoons or whatever and just forgetting about everything else we have going on. Those are some of my favorite moments to share with anyone I know, and I got that from mom. Love you, Mom! |
Diane & Jerry ErrathI remember our first Christmas together. You and Todd gave me my first gift – A set of baby mittens and matching hat. I thought you had given me someone else’s gift by mistake, missing the whole point of the gift. You were expecting!! The most wonderful gift came about 9 months later with my first grandchild, the greatest gift of all.
We’ve shared so many wonderful times and moments together – Holidays, day trips, vacations, babysitting, school events. We had family events with grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins and siblings. We had so many fun and wonderful memories together. Many mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships will involve MIL sharing tips and tricks with the DIL on cooking and baking techniques. Not ours. You are such a wonderful baker and chef in the kitchen. You’ve taught me so much over the years. We did a great job as a team making the Errath Christmas Open House a wonderful and delicious experience for everyone. I will always remember when we teamed up for the Christmas Craft Show. When I look back at the pictures, I see how artistic you have always been. Our best display was definitely at the Celtic Boutique at the Irish Fest offices. We received so many compliments on the variety and quality of our crafts. We sold a lot too!!! That was a long hard day but so much fun. I will always remember how wonderful you were with my parents as they aged. You were always there to help GiGi and Papa Joe with their open house, you helped us move them into Harwood and then The Lutheran Home. You visited often and really helped me better understand how to cope with the changes they were going through. And then, how can I forget the way you were there for my bother Denis. It was at the very beginning of the Covid outbreak and families were literally banned from visiting. I thank God you worked there. You would check on him every day. You helped him through it, you helped me through it, and you made his last few weeks comforting. I will never be able to thank you enough. You are a true blessing to us each day. Our hearts are filled with the love we have all shared through the years as a family. You are and will always be in our hearts forever. We love you. Mom & Dad Errath |
Todd ErrathHow do I express in a few paragraphs the amazing life we’ve shared? That’s an impossible task, but my hope is to highlight the amazing connection you and I had from the moment we met, with the hope others will gain a better understanding of the immeasurable and undying bond we still have… and will forever.
I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on you. You were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. As you walked toward me, I became nervous, wondering how to act, what to say. You approached and spoke to me first. I didn’t hear a thing you said. I was fixated on how beautiful you were... and your eyes. I couldn’t look away. Your beauty was striking and your eyes had this glow, a personality all their own. They were remarkable. I still get goosebumps every time our eyes connect. We talked only briefly, but there was an immediate connection. We could see it in our eyes, sense it in our voices, and the way we interacted. Yes, there was an obvious physical attraction for both of us, but it was SO much more. There was an “energy” we created, a bond that went beyond that moment in time. We both felt it. We didn’t know it then, but that connection would grow even stronger, and has proven to be an invaluable asset as we navigate this horrific and inhumane journey. Our trip together to South Dakota just weeks after meeting solidified my feelings for you. We just made our first stop in the Badlands, at a view point overlooking the amazing landscape. Snow was lightly falling, and we were the only people within miles. We were holding hands, and you commented on how beautiful and peaceful it was. Then suddenly, from our left, a family of mountain goats came out from behind a rock formation, no more than 10 feet from us. Your eyes lit up, you gasped, then silence. You just took it all in, waited for the moment to happen and pass. After, you looked at me and said, “That was amazing!” Your reaction was the same as mine when I made the same trip a year earlier, alone. I knew in that moment we were meant to be together. We are now on a much different trip together, one which we know will not end well for us. As I struggle to deal with thoughts of a future which does not include you, I realized my focus and purpose in life can and will still revolve around the greatest love of my life. My focus will soon become a mixture of fighting for greater awareness, research, and solutions for Pancreatic Cancer; Donating my time and money to support the Cancer Center and Oncology Team at Prohealth; Helping couples like us and friends and families like ours learn to deal with a situation no one is prepared to deal with. But most importantly, I will be focused on keeping your legacy alive, ensuring the world still benefits from your unique kindness, love, and inner beauty. This book was simply the first step in that process. Every time I look at you, I am amazed at your strength, your fight, and your commitment to not let cancer take any more from you than it already has. You are an inspiration to all, and the manner in which you dealt with your disease will be talked about and used as a guide for others fighting the same battle. I am so proud of you, and still get the same feelings I did the first time we met. You’re an amazing woman, and my love for you will never end. |
Nikki SchollWhat is there not to love about Andrea? She is a spicy, funny, kind, talented, welcoming, warm, and genuine person. Andrea has always kept an eye out for myself, my mom, and my sister... Not many of our neighbors interacted with us but Andrea never hesitated. She makes you feel comfortable, loved, and happy every time you converse and interact with her. Aside from myself, I don’t know anyone who has a love for press-on nails… Andrea does (and she is a boss at them)! Recently she gave me a wonderful goody bag FULL of nails, I was so touched that she thought of me (I am wearing a set right now). She keeps me in the know so I can get my shopping fix, but at bargain prices. I love that I don’t need to sensor myself around her. I remember (from years and years ago) not to say the word “panties” around her… That’s a cringy “no-no” word - speak it at your own risk. LoL!. Andrea is not only kind and nurturing to humans but animals as well (and they love on her right back). I get a kick out of seeing the chickens come to her porch for blueberries… She is the Snow White of the suburbs! Even when Andrea is going through it, she is always worried about how everyone else is doing and wondering if there is anything she can do to help. She is a beautiful soul! I am blessed to know Andrea and hope to one day be a fraction of the woman she is! Love you lady - from your Lil Peach

Katrina FlowerI remember the first time I met you. I came down to the admissions office and asked your boss if I could borrow the camera for an intergenerational event. Instead, she offered that you come take pictures (or you offered - can't quite remember). You came to 2 West where we were doing an art project and I remember the joy on your face as you snapped those pictures. It was obvious to me that the happiness shared between these older adults and children touched your heart. I then got my first inkling of what a kind, loving, and generous person you are.

Lisa FoxDear Andrea,
"Laughter is an instant vacation." -Milton Berle Thank you for so many vacations! Your smile and laughter light up a room. I love your laugh. Whenever I hear you laugh, I am transported to such a wonderful, happy place. Truly infectious. And add to that your unparalleled cookie decorating -- wow, what artistry. I've never seen anything like it. So perfect, too good to eat, Miss Picasso. :-) Move over Tom Brady, we have our own GOAT! Thank you for being a neighbor and friend who brings so much to "the hood" -- We are so blessed to have you. "A day without laughter is a day wasted." -Charlie Chaplin Keep laughing! Lisa |
Tim HeintskillNot many people get two sets of parents, but Todd and Andrea were mine growing up. Their home was my home away from home. I’ll always remember waking up on any Saturday morning at their house and having breakfast as if I was a part of the family. I had so many laughs while sharing meals with them at that table… some laughs had milk coming out my nose! The best part though has to be when there were cookies being made and some might not be up to the 15/10 quality standards Andrea constantly delivers. I would get an early taste test on those, and the flavor was at least 15/10 every time. I can’t just tell one story and have my love and appreciation fully show. Thank you for always keeping my belly full of food and my heart full of joy and laughter, being with you is always good for the soul.

Kristiana WilliamsLord knows I have a million equally funny and lovely stories that fill my heart when I think back. Likely the funniest for me was when Andrea had just started at MRS. I would come to find out her love of coffee was deep rooted in her soul. She asked if it was ok if she brought a French press. Not being the coffee drinker, I had no idea what it was or what it was for. She explained it was for coffee, and I instantly thought some giant machine, but told her to bring it in and I'm sure it would be fine. Next day French press in hand, she taught me all about the world of pressing your own coffee in a little glass, smooshy thing…lol
There wasn't anything Andrea didn't bring into the office that wasn't the best thing I've ever tasted. Her little pumpkin pies in the fall will always stick out in my head. Her homemade whipped cream in her own fancy dispenser. Her telling me how she was going to start making her own vanilla extract and the entire blood staking process it was going to be. She made the cookies for my baby shower. Always my mother hen, always up for a laugh, and always a great friend. I cherished our time together at MRS, and I am so thankful for the pieces of my life she touched. |
Myra JohnsonI remember Andrea giving me My Little Ponies, which I played with for years and kept on our fridge. I loved them so much, I can even picture what they looked like in my head (the blue one with white hair was my favorite ;)). I also loved watching TinkerBell movies with her, and it was due to her sparking that interest in me that I watch TinkerBell to this day! Also, the stuffed Webkinz llama she gave me caused me to love llamas for the rest of my life (I now have many stuffed llamas, including one that is about 2 1/2 feet tall!). I still have that llama, and it is still beside my bed all the time.
Andrea would come have coffee with my mom, and I would just sit in front of her while she did and played with my hair, which was absolute heaven for me. I could sit there in silence forever while she ran her soft hands through my hair, which she complemented me on endlessly. Andrea made me feel beautiful and loved. I always looked forward to getting Andrea’s cookies on Christmas and birthdays and such, and my siblings and I would discuss forever who got to get which cookie because we loved them so much! Andrea really taught me what generosity and hospitality looks like. She invited my siblings and I over to play on her yard and trampoline and play set all the time, and I loved swimming in the pool. Seeing how unapologetically herself Andrea is truly inspires me to love who God made me to be, and I strive to have that confidence and care for both myself and for others. Andrea is kind and self-sacrificing and I am truly blessed to know her. She lights up every room and brings joy wherever she goes! |
Leslie & Rick SmartAndrea’s cookies are so very special!
We have enjoyed them at baby showers, wedding showers and Christmas. We have marveled at their beauty! …. And they even tasted really good! Thank you for sharing your talents and bringing a smile to our faces…….. It has always been a delight to share and support Todd and his family. |
Melissa Reyes-RiveraI met Andre when I first started working at The Lutheran Home in 2018. When we first talked, I thought of how bubbly she is and always positive. She would always call me sugar and ask how I was doing. I remember when I was talking to Andrea about something personal going on and she said” Do we need to roll up on this person”. All I could do was laugh. I also ordered cookies from her for Mother’s Day. Those cookies looked too good to eat. I miss working with Andrea and her contagious smile and humor. I’m so glad we became friends and still keep in contact.

Mary WollensakI never met Andrea personally but was blessed with her incredible talent while celebrating my daughter's wedding shower and my son and daughter in law's baby shower. Her cookies were not only a topic of joyous celebration but memories of those special moments in our lives. I hope Andrea knows how she not only touched the lives of people she knows personally but the ripple effects her cookies had on everyone who experienced the happiness from the love she put into making them. Heartfelt thoughts and prayers!

Judi Sherman & ZevaI remember the first time Todd and Andrea came over with cookies for my daughter and me to sample. I had never seen cookies decorated so beautifully. They were too pretty to eat. Well, of course we ate them, and they were not only beautiful but tasty. Andrea would come over every so often with different treats for us to try – They were all delicious. My favorite was her English Toffee… Best I’ve ever had!
I get such a kick out of the neighbor’s chickens waddling over to Andrea’s house for the blueberries she buys special just for them. It is a comical sight to see. She’s always so kind to animals. Zeva can attest to that. She would always want to greet Todd or Andrea if they were outside. It has been such a pleasure having Andrea as a neighbor. She is always so much fun to talk to. You truly are a blessing. |
Suzy FosterDearest Andrea,
I am having a difficult time finding a word which describes how my grandchildren felt when they received your beautiful cookies. They were in awe of your talents, as was I. In fact, they were too pretty to eat until the “awesomeness” wore off. Thank you for putting smiles on all of our faces and making each holiday so very special. It was so very apparent that each cookie was made with love. Thank you so very much. - Suzy Foster |
Yvonne OgrenHi Andrea –
Just a thank you for the cookies that you made for Diane and her classmates (like me) when we had lunch at her house. We also enjoyed your wonderful cookies, tarts, cupcakes, and cheesecakes at our class reunion at the Hart Park Pavilion for the class of 1957 at Wauwatosa High School. Your talent was very appreciated. God bless, Yvonne Ogren |
Emily KostermanI first heard of Andrea’s cookies when my sister-in-law ordered some for my baby shower with my first son. After that, I had her do cookies for my son’s first and second birthdays, as well as my second son’s baptism and first birthday.
Every time the cookies were delivered, I was in awe of her talent and how beautiful the cookies were! They were always a hit at the party and added a beautiful touch! I was so sad to hear of her diagnosis and have been thinking about her ever since! I am crushed to know she won’t be making more beautiful cookies, especially since we will now have a third baby boy to celebrate soon. Though I never met her, I was always touched by her incredible talent! I loved being able to support her business while adding an extra special touch to my parties. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family! Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and kindness! Sending prayers of comfort! |
Tonya BlairI first saw Andrea's talented work at Cake & Bake. She had a table outside and showcased her work. I took her information and placed orders throughout the years. My family loved her cookies. She is such a talented artist and made such beautiful cookies. Her cookies were some of the best I’ve have ever seen. I'm so glad she was sitting outside Cake & Bake that day or I never would have found her.

Holly WempnerDear Andrea,
I am in awe of your beautiful cookies! Your work is truly amazing. We moved here from Southern California, and I had a “cookie girl” out there and was lamenting the fact that I didn’t have one here. I stumbled across you on Facebook and was only able to order from you a few times, but your cookies always made me smile. It was fun putting such a cute cookie in my kids’ Christmas stockings. We never had the chance to meet, but your husband always had a smile on his face when he would deliver. I thought it was so neat that the two of you worked together---what a wonderful opportunity. I am truly sorry to hear about your illness. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I hope this wonderful book your husband put together warms your heart and makes you grin ear to ear. God’s blessings to you! |
Marie FerrisHi Andrea,
Although I’ve never met you, I feel like I have. I’ve heard nothing but absolutely wonderful things about you and of course, the cookies you make. You sound like a very special person! I pray that God provides you strength and comfort through this difficult time. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Marie Ferris |
Erika Pietrzak & RonAndrea,
You are one of the most amazing humans I have ever met. Your joy, happiness, positivity, and spunk never waivers despite the challenges you face. You make coming to work fun and feel like I was just hanging out with one of my girlfriends. My favorite moment has to be when I needed help picking out a dress for a wedding I was attending. We looked through all the dresses I was thinking of buying and you gave my tips on color and style. Of course I wore the dress you helped me decide on. Your sense of fashion through your glasses to your slippers always show your personality. You are always so positive and bubbly. You are truly an amazing role model and I aspire to be just like you! |
Amber BallAndrea-
When we bumped into each other at the Dollar Tree a few years ago, we connected over the fact that we have wonderfully outgoing husbands that allow us to stay hidden in the background. 😊 Though short, our conversation made evident your passion for putting a smile on people's faces by using your incredible cookie-decorating talents and I loved hearing how perfect of a duo you and Todd make as owners of Andrea's Sweet Shoppe. In that same conversation, you mentioned visiting Salentine farm, a place with friendly owners and delicious produce. Your enthusiasm drove me to check this place out for myself and since then, our family has become regular customers (I go for the produce, the kids go for the animals). I think of you every time I visit. 😊 Thank you for making this world a more beautiful place and inspiring me to find beauty everywhere. We continue to pray for peace and comfort for you and your family. Love, Amber Ball |
Joe & Tracy McGoldrickAndrea,
We have been family for a long time now. I am sorry for what you have been going through. Thought I would share a “Best of” collection of my shelter doggies. Might make ya smile. All my love. -Joe Mc Andrea, I’m so sorry that you are going through all this. Cancer fu@king SUCKS!! We are always thinking of you. Happy Birthday! -Tracy |
Jen WeyerI can’t think of any single story that involves Andrea because there are so many, so I have decided to write an all-encompassing overview of our friendship and the dynamically beautiful person she is.
I still remember the first day I met her. It was in the lobby at the Lutheran Home, and she was introduced to me as the “new admission person.” The second we met, I knew there was something extraordinarily special about her and we were going to be friends. She would often visit the unit that I worked on because that’s where the majority of the admissions would come, so I was able to become more acquainted with her. Once we began talking, we realized we had so much in common; Game of Thrones, our undying love for Drogon the Dragon, crafts, animals, and cute and unique treasures. Even though we only knew each other for a short period of time I felt like we had been friends forever. I would often use her office as a refuge. A place that felt warm and cozy where a hot cup of coffee and someone to have great conversations were always waiting. I loved going to that place, and time seemed to disappear when we were together in that little space sharing our life stories. And then there were the cookies. Those fabulous creations Andrea made that you could tell were made with talent and love. I never got tired of seeing all her baked artistries. I would often joke with her that they should be displayed in The Louvre instead of sitting on a platter waiting to be eaten. She would assure me that even though they were beautiful they were meant to be enjoyed both aesthetically and orally. I still have the box of Christmas cookies she made me a few years ago; untouched and uneaten. Andrea keeps a special place in my heart. She is a ray of sunshine that has shined down on and touched our lives in so many different ways. She’s one in a million and is loved by so many for being the person she is. |
Chiho BennettAndrea,
When I first met you, we were working at MRS. You were an APS rep and I was a "scanning" girl. I was very shy, and I had no one to talk to at work. I was invisible until I met you. Every time I brought some faxed requests back to you, you said "Thank you, sugar"...that sound of your voice and smile, I knew you were a nice person, and I was right. You are also a great artist! When I first saw your decorated cookies, I was stunned. I had never seen such beautiful cookies in my entire life and still you are the number 1 cookie artist that I have ever known. Not only me, but everyone at work loved your cookies, pies the list is endless. oh! and cocktails! You are a great bartender too! You love everything about Japan, my home. Remember, we went to Japan Fest at Franklin high school cafeteria once? You were amazed at the foods, snacks and Anime! I still remember the booth with all the anime drawings that you were so fascinated with. You didn’t even hear me when I called your name because your eyes were captured by the drawings. I hope we can go to the festival this year together again. I wish I could write more about you here, but my writing is so terrible, and I am sorry. I want you to know how much I adore you and I'm a lucky girl that I can call you a friend. Thank you for being my friend, Andrea, and I love you so much! |
Tricia PerrineI never had the pleasure of personally taking care of Andrea while she was in the hospital (UPDATE... She did during her birthday stay!), but I did meet her and Todd by helping in her room, or if they were walking in the hall. Andrea was always so friendly, and I could tell she was a kind soul. She made everyone she met feel good about themselves. Her & Todd never took for granted the care she received and let us know how thankful they were by bringing us a mass amounts of yummy treats. All of us on 2S will forever be grateful we met Andrea & Todd!
Happy Birthday!! ♥️You are an Angel! |
Angela NordskogMy Dearest Bestie,
It is not easy to make new friends as an adult. It’s always been easier for me when the other person is more outgoing. To call you outgoing is an understatement. I was immediately drawn to your vivacious personality. Not only do you have the ability to talk to anyone at any time, but you also have the ability to see the best in people and you are quick to compliment them without hesitation. You make everyone you meet feel like they just came in contact with a ray of sunshine. I think you and I connected so quickly because we have so many similar interests. I think we bonded over our shared love of fashion, thrift stores, animals, Japanese snacks & stationary, food, music and laughter. We also have some not so fun things in common like cancer. No matter what, when we spend time together, we always find a way to laugh. When I think of you, I think of all these things we have in common, but mostly, I think about the way you treat people you love, including me, with so much kindness and generosity. Your joy when you talk about your family or something else that you love is contagious. Your creative talent is inspiring. I have loved all the times we have gone shopping together or shared a meal or even the times we have just hung out and watched game shows. For the rest of my life, when I find something beautiful at the thrift or see someone with a cute outfit I will think of you. When I get a new bag or see something I know you would like I will want to share it with you! I’m so glad we met, I’m so glad you came back into my life, and most of all I’m so glad that I have the honor of being your friend. Love you, Bestie!! |
Dennis KubenaAndrea,
As a hospital chaplain, I really only get a chance to see you when you are in the hospital, and you are usually in the hospital because you are not doing so well medically. Despite that, you are always one of my favorite people to visit. From the first time I met you, I found you to be very pleasantly genuine and real. Unfortunately, that is not the norm for our current culture. You have a genuine zest for life and have courageously demonstrated that zest even under extremely difficult circumstances. It has been a privilege for me to have been able to share a small piece of that journey with you. Much blessings upon you and Todd. Chaplain Dennis |
Yvonne WheatonAlthough I worked with Andrea for a short time, sadly, my stories of love and friendship do not begin until after I found out she was ill. Because of this, I have cherished every minute we have had together. ❤️
If I had to pick a favorite visit it would have to be the day we met out at Ope Brewery in West Allis. She felt well enough to leave the house and get out for a bit. Also, because she was able to meet my daughter, my granddaughter and even a couple of my dogs. This would be the first of many visits with the pups. At the hospital, the house and wherever and whenever she wanted us to be. She has not felt well enough for visits as of late, but when she is ready, we will be too! I just have to say as well, what a caring and sweet soul Andrea is. I have not taken our friendship lightly and I pray for miracles daily. |
Lindsay & Mason PingelIt's not so much of story but really just every interaction I have had with Andrea. I am always in tears laughing. She is literally the most FABULOUS person I have ever met.
She is that person that can make anyone and everyone feel good about themselves. When I worked with her, I would have to see her beautiful face and hear her hilarious jokes every single day just so I could get through my day. She is literally a hype woman for every person she is friends with. I have honestly never met a personality like hers, but I wish there were more people like her. She is truly selfless. I have always cherished every single workday and memory that I have had with her. Andrea always has the best beauty products, office decor, and trinkets! I always loved reviewing beauty products and amazon products with her! When my parents would come visit me from out of town, they would always ask to see Andrea when they would come to my work. My parents barely knew her but just from one initial interaction they absolutely loved seeing her when in town. Mason, Bert and I love Andrea so much! All of us have received so much love from her and we feel so special when we are around her. We love her soooo much! |
Kaitlyn PefferAndrea ❤️
It’s hard to put something into words for someone who deserves the world! Your presence on the unit, either as a visitor or a patient, brightens up the place. You are one of the strongest, most inspiring and fierce people I have ever met. There is no single memory that makes up for the impression and the happiness you bring and the memory you continue to leave with me. |
The Johnson FamilyI don’t remember exactly how we first met you, Andrea, but it might have been at one of your amazing rummage sales! (We may… or may not… have purchased and moved half of the contents of each sale into our house.) The kids and I would come to the sales to visit with you and admire all the great deals to be had. There was something for everyone! Furniture, toys, clothes, crafts, tents, bikes, you name it! We would carry armloads home through the yard. When Matt would come home after a day at work, he would be surprised at how much new stuff would be in our house. It’s been a while since you had a rummage sale, but we still have many items in our home that originated from the Errath household.
Years ago when my kids were young, you asked me one day if you could come over and read picture books out loud to them, and of course I said yes!! We fondly called you “The Library Lady,” at your request. All the kids enjoyed being read to, but you would sometimes stick around and braid Ella’s and Myra’s hair. The girls particularly loved the hairstyling sessions, because I’ve always been inept at hairdos! You also introduced our family to the wonderful world of Webkinz. For one of Ella’s birthdays, you gave her a pink polka-dotted dinosaur… that one gift launched all of our kids into a happy era of building a veritable zoo of stuffed animals along with many fun filled hours of learning how to use computers, playing educational games, decorating the pets’ virtual homes, and even gaining some money sense. Webkinz are some of the toys that my kids are unwilling to part with, even as they get older. How can I reminisce about fond memories of you, Andrea, without mentioning your amazing cookies! When you were at the beginning stages of developing your business, we were more than happy to be your market research team! We didn’t mind helping you dispose of prototypes. :) I remember you would talk about the sources of inspiration for your cookie designs… sometimes you would dream about cookies and wake up with an idea, other times you’d be out for a walk and see something that would spark your creativity. I am honored to say that once a bird (a cardinal, I think) on a birdhouse in our yard during a snowy winter month became a cookie in one of your Christmas gift boxes. But it wasn’t just cookies you were skilled at, you were capable of making delicious desserts of all kinds. My personal favorite is your toffee. But for Tom and Shirley’s 50th wedding anniversary party, you made a truly amazing spread of fine pastries and desserts … eclairs, fruit tarts, and more delectable treats. What a gift that was! We always knew that you loved animals, but I’m not sure anyone could’ve anticipated just how much joy you would draw from our chickens! Last year when we got them, we were actually wondering if the chickens would be a nuisance to the neighbors because of their noise or because we allowed them to free-range from time to time (and they weren’t always mindful of the boundaries of our yard). Turns out, our neighbors didn’t mind the chickens, and some (especially you!) actually seemed to love having them around. The feeling was mutual… the chickens would make a beeline to your front window to beg for treats as soon as we’d let them out for the day. You loved them so much that you kept a sizable stash of tidbits that were especially enticing to chickens: oats, mealworms, and blueberries (who knew?). It didn’t take long before our chickens had names, thanks to you: the four were either referred to as “Henny & her Sisters,” just “The Girls,” or Blanche, Rose, and Sophia in honor of the Golden Girls (but I can’t remember if you ever referred to the fourth one as Dorothy…?). No matter what they are called, I’m pretty sure your house is their favorite place to visit. Last summer, we started having tea or coffee together. I LOVED those mornings! (Why haven’t we been doing that for years?!) I discovered that you are a purist and a snob (and I mean that in the most complimentary sense!). You always had the best coffee and tea, not to mention breads and sweet treats. We would sit out on your front porch, soaking up the sun (or the shade, if it was too hot), chatting and sometimes delving deep into family or relationship stuff that was meaningful and therapeutic. I hope to make that a weekly tradition this summer, as soon as the weather permits! In all our fond memories of you, Andrea, there are characteristics and personality traits that are consistently woven throughout… you are authentic & real, artistic & creative, enthusiastic & passionate, tenderhearted & loving, fun & fabulous. No matter how you are feeling, you always make people feel welcome and pampered. You have a heart of service to others, and all the members of our family can say that we are grateful to know you, fortunate to call you neighbor, and truly blessed to call you friend. |
Lori BarkhausI do not have a specific story, but I want to share that Andrea has always been the person with a smile. Andrea would come on the unit at Lutheran Home and whether she was touring a family or dropping off admission paperwork, she came with a smile. She uses words such as “sugar” or “sweetie” which always made me and others smile.
Andrea is my TEMU shopping buddy, we like to share what each other bought and Andrea always found some cool stuff that I usually ended up buying. 😊 Most recently Andrea has been an inspiration to me, she is a fighter and continues to be positive despite the situation. Our dinners at the Cleveland Pub always had laughs and some tears but ended with Funnel Fries which made everything ok at that moment. Love you Andrea… |
Stephanie LeanesThe first time I met Andrea was at work. From the moment I met her, she made me smile, and absolutely everyone else around her. "You are fabulous"; "you look fabulous" and several of her other tag lines filled the halls of the Lutheran Home.
Andrea filled joy into the hearts of almost everyone she came across. That contagious laugh and that beautiful smile made everyone she came in contact with feel a little more beautiful or special. She has an uncanny way of connecting and knowing what and when people need to hear her kind words and be a recipient of her generous heart. There is nobody like her that I have ever known, and probably will ever know. We meet thousands and thousands of people in our lifetime where there is no connection and no impact on your life. Then, you meet somebody who shows nothing but love and friendship. Andrea...you are that person to me in more ways than I can describe. I know you have many friends, but you make all of us feel like we are the most special. Truly a gift you possess. Even through all of your trials and tribulations, pain and grief; you still muster up strength for us. You are an amazing and beautiful person. Recently you helped me make a decision to be open and honest with someone in my life. I took that advice and now I am so much happier. Life is better because of you, my friend. Forever grateful. Love you always. Stephanie |
The Sorenson FamilyWe moved into a nuisance house previously inhabited by relatives of ours so I can only imagine that the existing neighbors were unsure of what to expect from us. It took a while for most of our neighbors to introduce themselves and we distinctly remember Todd and Andrea Errath being the first to come welcome us into the neighborhood and maybe see if we were going to continue the legacy. Way too often I hear stories of people that have neighbors that are at odds, irritating or even hate each other. Instead, we found a lasting relationship built around these caring people that would surpass most chosen friendships and in some cases family.
Andrea was sweet, gentle and loving to us and “Lulu” from what seemed like the beginning. This truly blossomed once we started having children and you could see the love grow with the addition of each child. She would fawn over them and make sure each one of them felt special by making sure to stop and wave when driving by or stopping to chat with all of us on her many walks. They have fond memories of the many gifts that she would bring them from scooters, books, adorable clothes and cute little accessories. Each item was so well thought out and usually came with priceless stories of Dalton. You could see her eyes light up when she would gift them making it unclear who got more joy out of the exchange her or them. On mornings that are not too hectic I point out to Nora, Maeve and Abel that Mrs. Errath is probably waving at them while they wait for the bus. Her artistic abilities really shine through in her culinary talents. I got to witness her journey through all the laws to make her business work and celebrate with her when they relaxed on the regulations. She is mostly known for amazing cookies and treats but we see her passion carry over into anything that she is preparing and sharing. It makes me smile to remember when she was obsessed with this amazing coconut lime drink that she brought over to share with me and then blamed herself when I clumsily dumped the entire thing. She immediately went home to make me a new one and rushed it right over. All of her ingredients needed to be the best and everything had to be prepared perfectly. Even her coffee was prepared with such intention and love that it could not possibly be recreated anywhere else. She has always been so generous with all of her good finds and thinking about this quality makes me realize that a lot of her joy comes from serving others even when she’s not feeling well. One of my favorite things about Andrea is the passion she has for everything in life. Her cooking clearly pours over into this, however, the way she treats people she cares for is one of the things I love most about her. She defends the barking dog at the top of the hill to the amazon delivery guy, telling him “She’s the neighborhood advocate”. She laughs about our roaming chickens and would feed them snacks if she got the chance. It seems that whatever crazy stuff we have going on at our house she has nothing but love for us. Andrea is the type of person to give you the shirt off her back and fight ferociously for her friends and loved ones. We are blessed to have Andrea in our lives. Unwittingly, she reminds us that no matter what you do, do it with passion, love and intention. Ryan, Kim, Nora, Maeve, Abel and Lulu Sorenson |
Sky CaprioloI have only had a few sun-soaked moments with Andrea, but they made a lasting impression! We met in June of 2023 at the pool of the resort in Egg Harbor we were both staying at.
I will always remember the calm positivity you shared with me as we talked about your condition, your family and your business. Whenever I'm in a pool from now on I'll think of how much you enjoyed just a few moments of swimming, floating, and feeling the warmth of the early summer sun. Simple pleasures can bring the most value! I look forward to repeating it this year back in Door County. Hugs and Best Wishes to you! |
Ella JohnsonMy childhood is full of fun memories with you, Mrs. Errath, but I have two favorites.
The first is when you gave me my first Webkinz stuffed animals when I was about eight years old. I remember the excitement I felt when you brought them over for me as well as the many hours of fun I had with them! I believe I still have those two Webkinz you gave me all those years ago, although they are a little beat up from all the hours of playtime! My second favorite memory is of your summer rummage sales. I looked forward to these every year, since it gave me an excuse to go over to your house anytime throughout the weekend of the sale because I knew you'd be outside and excited to see me! All of my memories of you, Mrs. Errath, involve laughter and joy! I know you will always have a fun story to share that we can laugh about as we catch up. I'm so thankful for all the joy and laughter you've brought for me and my family over the years and I'm so grateful that you were my neighbor while I was growing up! |
Allison Knoke (far right)Happy Birthday Andrea!
I will often think about the time we first met in person. You woke up and said I was beautiful, and you instantly became my favorite person! Then Todd walked in and said he thought I was in my late 20’s/early 30’s… now you were both #1 in my book! I will always remember this. That’s a gift you have… You made me feel special that day even though you were not feeling well. Thank you, Andrea! I hope you enjoy your special day! |
Kathleen WilsonAndrea, your cookies were such a hit at Christmas, and everybody wanted your name and thought the cookies were so special. I was looking forward to every holiday being able to order more from you.
This will certainly be an extremely hard time for you, and I send my love to you and your lovely husband. My world was much better off when you could bake cookies and I could look forward to the joy they brought me and everyone around me. God bless you both and find joy in every little thing you do. Please give me an update on how things are going. I truly mean that. |
Allyson Leu & SteveI worked with Andrea at MRS. I have fond memories of our breakroom conversations and Chinese carry-out lunches. I was also a fan of her cookies. I ordered cookies for the holidays and family events including my niece's (Hazel) 2nd birthday party which included a visit to a petting zoo. (Hazel is now in 5th grade!) The cookies are a special memory for my family.
I’m sorry we lost touch… I should have done better. You may be happy to learn after 10+ years, Steve and I are engaged. We got engaged last May in Venice, Italy. Steve and I think the World of you, Andrea. We send you our love. You are a peach! |
Holly Betthauser... featuring ArcherAndrea - You’ve been a bright ray of sunshine throughout your difficult journey. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you over the past few months and sharing stories. You and Todd are a match made in heaven and I think my favorite story you told me was how you two met. You’re a strong, beautiful, and spunky woman.
Thanks for all the snacks and I’m always around if you’re looking for some baby therapy. 😊 |
Brooke PfisterAndrea, you are truly such a beautiful person. I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to know you. As I pursue my nursing career, I will forever cherish having YOU as one of my patients. Through all your pain and suffering, you never failed to keep a smile on your face, and you have shown me that even in the midst of the worst pain and suffering, you can still enjoy the little things in life. Wishing you all the peace and comfort. Forever in my heart.

Heather PossiI met Andrea at work, pretty sure in the break room where I was admiring her lunch. From there it turned into us being lunch buddies and becoming fast friends. The amount of therapy one can have during a lunch break with a friend is priceless.
Our friendship grew deeper than co-workers… We were all up in each other’s business, Ha! Andrea helped me through some rough times in my life and I am forever grateful to her. When she left to start her own business, I knew she’d be amazing at it, but I was also very selfish wanting her to stay and hang out with me at work, lol. After she was gone from the office, we turned our lunches into dinners, and I always looked forward to seeing her smiling face. A couple of happy hour drinks in and it’s like time never passed. Life happens and while you can lose touch with someone, you never lose the love you have for people that change your life for the better when they are in it. Love you always lady. |
Kathy MarsekDear Andrea,
It is hard at my age to remember all the good memories we have connected to the cookies we ordered from Andrea’s Sweet Shoppe. Two things… First. Max, my son, played soccer with Todd, always loved “cutout” cookies and has caused me much guilt for not making them for him. Once when I apologized for not baking, he said, “That’s OK, Mom, Andrea’s cookies are better! “ Second. I was so very excited and proud when Mandy told us she was going to give us our first Grandchild. I immediately set about to give her the “BEST BABY SHOWER EVER.“ It was themed “Pea in the Pod“ and my friend Linda helped make peapod bracelets for everyone, and we used them as napkin rings at the shower. Andrea’s PEA POD COOKIES were the highlight; not only precious looking but very delicious. Needless to say, they were especially darling looking and unbelievably DELICIOUS! That grandchild Henry is now going on 17 years old, is 6’ 5” and 220 pounds who loves school and sports, football and lacrosse specifically. I still get comments today about the darling and delicious cookies served at his baby shower. Andea has a FABULOUS TALENT as a Baker and the world is a better place because she used her gift to bring happiness to others! I wish Andrea and you all the best and pray for you daily. Thank you so very much for touching our lives in the way you did! 🥰Kathy |
